| | Quote: | HCM CITY — Music junkies in HCM City will get their chance to enjoy the American smash-hit emo band My Chemical Romance (MCR) at the international rock show Unite 08 on January 20.
This will be the first time the country hosts a band on top of the world’s rock charts and nominated for honors like the American Music Awards and Grammies.
Two of Viet Nam’s most rocking bands, selected from the nationwide Tiger Translate – Rock Your Passion contest, will join MCR on stage. The winners will be announced in Ha Noi on Sunday.
MCR’s Viet Nam gig is part of the global Tiger Translate Project which aims to let local rock bands share the limelight with and learn from one of the world’s most popular bands.
Let’s hope MCR’s five members, Gerard Way, lead vocals; Ray Toro, guitar lead, vocals; Frank Lero, guitar, vocals; Mikey Way, guitar bass; and Bob Bryar, drums, can keep up with their Vietnamese counterparts. — VNS |
